Multipurpose Neutral Silicone Sealant
Description Sikasil-C is a single component ready for use neutral silicone sealant that is
moisture cured.
Uses Sikasil-C is suitable for use in general purpose glazing and sealing
applications where long term reliability is required.
Sikasil-C has excellent adhesion to non-porous materials such as glass
ceramics aluminium galvanised steel and plastics. It can be used for:
???? Standard and butt glazing of frames panels and shop fronts.
???? Sealing environmental and refrigerated rooms sheet metal skylights
ventilators and air conditioning units.
???? Assembly of metal and plastic signs.
???? Weatherproofing (gutters roofs brickwork).
???? Sanitary silicone for kitchens and bathrooms.
Advantages ???? One component ready to use.
???? Non-sag.
???? Fast curing.
???? Excellent adhesion to many substrates.
???? Resistant to rain snow extreme temperature changes and ultraviolet
exposure.
???? Performs well in a broad temperature range.
???? Long term resistance to fungal activity.
???? Suitable for internal and external use.
Storage and Shelf Life Stored in the original sealed packaging at temperatures of between 5oC and
35oC this product will keep for at least 12 months.
Instructions for Use
Surface Preparation All surfaces must be clean sound dry and free of oil greases and surface
contaminants. Thoroughly remove all loose particles and dust.
Metallic surfaces must be free of rust scale or oxide films and should be
degreased using Sika Colma Cleaner Acetone or M.E.K.
When used in remedial work all existing sealant must be removed.
Priming No priming is required for glass epoxies polyester and polyurethane
coatings most anodised aluminium ceramics and glass coated steel.
Application Sikasil-C is easily installed direct from the cartridge with normal caulking
equipment.
For neat joint edges use masking tape. This should be removed immediately
after tooling before skin forms.
Standard Glazing: a thin bead of sealant will tolerate more movement than a
thick bead. Joint width and depth should not be less than 4mm and maximum
joint width should not exceed 25mm. Depth should be half the width with a
maximum of 10mm.
Butt Glazing: the sealant bead may be as deep as the glass thickness and the
maximum 10mm depth joint recommendation does not apply.

occur.
???? Do not overpaint Sikasil-C.
???? Do not use in aquarium construction or similar structures as fungicide
leaching may occur.
???? Bleeding can occur on porous substrates. Specific testing should be
carried out on sensitive substrates.
Handling Precautions ???? Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
???? Wear protective gloves and eye protection during work.
???? If skin contact occurs wash skin thoroughly.
